Down With Devon Data Campus And Battery Storage — Privacy Notice

Last updated: 28 June 2026

This notice explains what we do with the personal information you give us when you sign up for updates or get in touch. We only use it to run the campaign.

Who we are

Down With Devon Data Campus And Battery Storage is a community campaign group opposing the proposed Xlinks Devon Data Campus And Battery Storage near Torrington. For data protection purposes the "data controller" is Down With Devon Data Campus And Battery Storage. Contact us at [email protected].

What we collect

Only what you give us — usually your name, your email address, and (if you provide it) your mobile number. If you email or message us, we keep that correspondence. We don't collect sensitive ("special category") data and we don't buy in contact lists.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use your details to send campaign updates — news about the proposal, actions you can take, and event details — on the channels you opted into (email and/or text).

Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is your consent. Because campaign messages count as direct marketing, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) also require your consent before we email or text you — which is why we ask you to opt in.

Where your details are stored

We manage our contacts using GoHighLevel (HighLevel Inc.), a platform that stores and processes data on our behalf as our "data processor". HighLevel is based in the United States and uses Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (also in the US) to store data securely. Because your details are transferred outside the UK, they are protected by the safeguards required under UK data protection law — the Standard Contractual Clauses supplemented by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, set out in HighLevel's Data Processing Agreement. Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

Who we share it with

We don't sell, rent or swap your details. We only share data with service providers who help us run the campaign (such as GoHighLevel, above), under contract and only as needed. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your details for as long as you want to hear from us, or until the campaign ends — whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe, we stop contacting you and keep only the minimum needed to make sure we don't message you again.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time — it's as easy to opt out as it was to opt in. To do any of these, contact [email protected]; we'll respond within one month.

Unsubscribing

Every email has an unsubscribe link and every text tells you how to stop. You can also just email us. We'll action it promptly and add you to our do-not-contact list.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk, or 0303 123 1113.
